My Favorite Winter Boots (So You Don't Freeze)

Since I now live in North Carolina, where it rarely snows (and if it does, no one knows what to do), my need for heavy duty snow boots is basically negative. In college, girls would wear Hunter rain boots when it snowed more than two inches because they didn't know what else to do. So, Bean Boots are probably the most extreme pair of winter boots that I'll be needing.

I don't know why, but I'm really wanting snowy, cold weather right now - when I lived in Connecticut, I hated it, but now that I'm not in that climate, I want it. I can't win. So, instead I'll just post a roundup of my favorite winter boots so appease my wishes.

I have two pair of the L.L. Bean boots: the classic 8" boots and the 10" shearling-lined boots. My family and I used to go to Jackson Hole every winter, so having a good pair of warm boots was necessary. If I had to choose between the two, get the 8" boots - they're way more practical, and a pretty much a footwear staple.

However, if you live in colder areas, or go on vacations in colder areas, definitely try the Sorel Fur Lined Waterproof Boots. They're tall and fuzzy, aka effective.

I don't know how well the J. Crew winter boots hold up, but they're so cute! The Perfect Winter Boot has buffalo plaid lining (my favorite kind of plaid), and the Nordic Boots are furry with red laces. J. Crew also collaborated with Manitobah, and released these extra-furry black boots. LOVE.
