My Fall Favorites

While I do enjoy summer (warm weather, being tan, "Summer Fridays" aka an excuse to leave work at 3pm), fall is 100% my favorite season. Would it be ridiculous to say I love it because of the clothes? Whatever, it's true. It's no doubt that people look forward to fall style more than any other season.

I have literally given away all my clothes. Purging is great and all, but then there's the moment you realize there's nothing left in your closet and at some point you need to actually replenish basic items. I'm really into the mindset that I should love everything in my closet, and I shouldn't buy something just to have it. Unfortunately, that means I only have a few things I love and the rest went to Goodwill.

In my effort to "restock," I have been thoroughly searching all my favorite shopping websites to find clothes, shoes, and accessories I like. The result has been subpar, but it's honestly made me super excited to transition to fall. Bring on the sweaters and boots!!

So, without further ado, here are my favorite items for the upcoming season.

The Barbour I got my Barbour jacket on my 19th birthday, and I had worn it religiously every fall and winter since. I love it. Obviously if you live in a frigid climate, it's not going to offer much for you. But, in the chillier fall months + warmer winter days in North Carolina and Connecticut, the Barbour has truly pulled through. I would recommend ordering a size larger than you'd expect, just so you can be comfortable wearing layers without feeling like a stuffed sausage.

The Bootie Perfect for day to night dressing, booties are definitely a fall staple. I pretty much exclusively wear booties to go out when it starts getting colder. During the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale I picked up these booties in black and I'm v excited to actually wear them. My favorite booties in the entire world are the Rag & Bone Newbury Booties. I got them three years ago and they're some of the only shoes I haven't worn out after a year of use.

The Bucket Bag Is a bucket bag a typical fall accessory? Not really. But, while I was browsing around the internet for this post I found this Neely & Chloe Black Horse Hair Bucket Bag from Tuckernuck and I LOST MY MIND. Oh my goodness gracious I think this bag is just so friggin' cool.

The Loafer I have two pair of absolutely perfect loafers and they are the ideal shoe for when I'm not feeling the typical constraint of boots. Fortunately for me and unfortunately for y'all, my favorite pairs aren't available anymore, but I'm loving the Vince Milo Loafers and the Lucky Brand Carlyn Loafers. Black and velvet is my fave, cheetah print a close second. Great to pair with skinny pants and a turtleneck

The Plaid Shirt TBH I usually just steal my plaid shirts from my brother's closet (perks of having a 6'4 sibling). If LL Bean isn't really doing the trick, I love this option from J. Crew and this from Nordstrom. The bigger the better, in my opinion - no one wants a clingy plaid shirt outside of their middle school Abercrombie days.

The Sweater Dress Honestly it's easier said than done to find a good sweater dress. In theory I love them, but I am still trying to find one that looks as good on as it does online. Right now I'm leaning towards the Equipment Black Cashmere Sweater Dress from Tuckernuck, and the Lovers + Friends Ash Sweater Dress.

The Tall Boots It wouldn't be a fall favorites post without mentioning over the knee boots. If you're not willing to shell out a good chunk of cash and your first born child for a pair of the Stuart Weitzman 5050 boots, Nordstrom actually has a lot of good alternative options, like the Blondo Olivia Knee High Boots. I also really like these Tory Burch OTK boots, although they're still pretty pricey. Besides the standard black leather over the knee boots, I still love the classic brown leather riding boots. I have had my Tory brown boots for years, and I'm happy that they keep putting out new options each year for me to oggle.

The Turtleneck I can confidently say that I am truly looking forward to wearing turtlenecks the most. People can hate on them all they want, but watch The Holiday and you too will realize that anything is possible while wearing a turtleneck. I tend to turn to J. Crew, J. McLaughlin, Tuckernuck, and Madewell to find cute options. Some options I'm loving - this cream t-neck (great to pair with leggings and riding boots), the classic black turtleneck, and this short-sleeve version from Shopbop.

The Vest I spotted this vest from J. Crew a few days ago and I'm obsessed. I actually really like the burgundy color...I'm really branching out from my black/white/grey fall uniform! My fave places to shop for vests are J. Crew, Vineyard Vines, and Patagonia. A classic go-to vest is the J. Crew Excursion Quilted Vest - every year it's available, but the color options change. I have it in hot pink and I refuse to get rid of it!

What are y'alls favorite fall items? Right now, despite this post, I feel like there are pretty slim pickings so I would love any brand or item suggestions!

Happy Friday everyone!
