From college visits to weekend trips to long weekends in Connecticut, I've tried to fine tune the way I pack so my luggage isn't exploding with my overpacked clothes. Here is my list of go-to items for traveling for a long weekend.

Jacket/Trench Isn't this J. Crew trench great? I saw it in store last week.
Printed Dress Always bring one fun printed dress and one solid dress.
LBD I loooove this Madewell dress. It's a midi dress and it wraps! Plus with an LBD you can dress it up or down.
White Tee You can never have too many!
Silk Cami Good for layering, good for going out.
PJs I alternate between a sorority tee and a PJ set.
Undies Hanky Panky all the way.
Sandals Only because it's spring. Switch these out for boots when it's cold outside.
Flats I went to Connecticut last weekend and wore my cheetah print slippers the entire time. Much easier to pack than boots.
Black Leggings These leggings are pants. They have a zipper!
Dark Wash Jeans The classic.
White Jeans Regardless of what rules you follow about wearing white.
Makeup Remover Wipes My lifesaver. I like the wipes better than the liquid so much better.
Laundry Bags Stay organized.
Travel Umbrella You never know! Kate Spade has some really cute options.
Laptop It's a struggle for me to not have my laptop. Sad, really.
Floppy Hat Bought mine in October, have yet to wear it. But I think it's great for traveling!
Carry On Luggage I have a hot pink carry on from C. Wonder.
Makeup Case Only bring the essentials!
Curling Iron Easier to manage waves than worry if your hair is perfectly straight or not.
Handbag Kate Spade wicker bags are a favorite. Make it big enough to hold what you need but not too big that it's overpowering.
Sunglasses Always go reflective.
