what to wear + mountain weekend

This weekend I will be out of Winston-Salem and making my way to Gatlinburg, Tennessee...yes, it's mountain weekend. I'm not really sure if this is a tradition only at Wake Forest or not, but every fall, each fraternity (and their dates) takes a trip to various mountain locations for a weekend. This is my third and final year going on Mountain Weekend (sad but true) and I could not be more excited. My two best friends, and other girls from my sorority, are all going to the same frat's MW and it's going to be so freaking fun.

There is kind of a mountain weekend uniform that everyone follows: plaid shirt, bean boots, leggings. If you saw a Wake MW, you would think it's sponsored by L.L. Bean. We're a stereotype of a stereotype.

Since the "weekend" is really Friday afternoon/night and all day Saturday, I don't really have to pack anything at all. A flannel (faves are from Madewell or L.L. Bean), preferably oversized, is great for a weekend in the mountains. I'll be pairing it with a vest that's not too heavy in case it warms up outside. I'm going to pack jeans, but let's be real...I'll probably be in leggings all weekend because I am not about to be uncomfortable. I'm going to wear a henley or t-shirt on the way over with probably the worst/douchiest sweatshirt of all time...my Patagucci sweatshirt. People love it or hate it; regardless, it's funny and warm and I want to be comfortable when I'm partying with my friends. I'm thinking it's going to be a pass down within my sorority lineage because there is a negative chance that I will ever be wearing it other than this weekend.

In terms of shoes, I really don't want to wear anything that I'm going to ruin by spilling something on, so I'm thinking Bean Boots are the way to go. In the past I've brought tall boots, so I'm still debating what my choice is going to be. Also, I won't forget my camp socks from J. Crew. They're the perfect pairing for Bean Boots.

I am so so so excited (also sad) for my last mountain weekend and hopefully I'll have some fun pictures from the event to post when I get back!
